Moonflower Murders by Anthony Horowitz is an homage to Agatha Christie. It's also a book within a book, but neither held my attention very well. (When available, I use Amazon affiliate links and may earn a commission.) Anthony Horowitz is clearly a talented writer. Moonflower Murders just wasn't my cup of tea. I guessed the killer early on, and I didn't find the story very compelling. If you're a fan of the first book, Magpie Murders, you may very well love this book. Beware: Even though it's an homage to Christie, there is swearing! Here's the video of my full book review. (Did you know I have a YouTube channel of book reviews called Book Blab? Book Review: Sex, Murder & a Double Latte
Sex, Murder & a Double Latte by Kyra Davis is the most fun I've had reading a murder mystery in a long time. It's also part rom com. (When available, I use Amazon affiliate links and may earn a commission.) Sex, Murder & a Double Latte has so many clues, twists, and turns that I thought I knew the killer, but I was DEAD wrong. You'll love the plucky female amateur sleuth and her sidekicks. Plus, her love interest is swoon worthy. Here's the video of my full book review. Book Review: Fries and Alibis
Fries and Alibis is a hilarious cozy mystery by Trixie Silvertale, chock full of all your favorite cozy mystery tropes. You've got a main character as a suspect, a bookstore inheritance, a handscome sheriff, a smarty-pants pet, and a ghost. I mean, what else could you ask for? And the dialog and writing, which is in the first person, is as funny as it is quick-paced. (When available, I use Amazon affiliate links and may earn a commission.) I listened to Fries and Alibis on Audible. The narrator has a throaty voice that really lent itself well to the main character, Mitzy Moon. Here's the video of my full book review. Book Review: A Murder of Crows
A Murder of Crows was my first Sarah Yarwood-Lovett book and I highly recommend it. Her writing is a joy to read. A Murder of Crows is more of a traditional mystery than a cozy, but it has a bit of romance (love triangle!) in it that kept me turning the pages as much of the mystery. #teamjames (When available, I use Amazon affiliate links and may earn a commission.)
